Gregory S. Hoff
Gregory S. Hoff is an experienced litigator with approximately 20 years of experience representing individuals and businesses in complex disputes. Over the course of his career, he has practised as a partner at a national law firm, as in-house counsel for a large insurer, and as a member of a specialized litigation boutique. This experience has given Gregory a broad and practical perspective on litigation and, importantly, an understanding of disputes from both sides of the courtroom.
Gregory has significant trial experience before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, as well as experience before the British Columbia Court of Appeal. His practice has focused on representing individuals and businesses in a wide range of disputes, including insurance coverage and denial claims, professional negligence claims, personal injury matters including professional negligence claims and occupiers liability, corporate and commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation and real property disputes.
A significant part of Gregory’s practice involves representing individuals whose long-term disability benefits have been denied by their insurers. He understands that these disputes are about more than insurance policies, they can have a profound impact on a person’s financial security, family, and future. Gregory takes the time to understand each client’s circumstances and develops a practical and strategic approach tailored to their individual goals.
Gregory is a client-focused lawyer who believes that successful litigation starts with listening to clients, understanding what matters most to them, and developing a strategy designed to achieve the best possible result. While he is an experienced trial lawyer, he also recognizes that the best outcome does not always require a trial. His significant experience in alternative dispute resolution allows him to pursue practical and effective solutions through negotiation, mediation, and other dispute-resolution processes when appropriate.
Gregory is actively involved in both the legal and sporting communities. He serves as a board member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and sits on the Risk Management Board for BC Hockey.
Outside of his legal practice, Gregory is an avid fisherman and enjoys hockey and golf. He is also the proud father of three boys.
