Associate Counsel
Rupam joined McQuarrie’s corporate group in 2023 and advises clients in the areas of corporate, commercial, real estate and banking law. Rupam has experience managing complex transactional work and regularly assists individuals and private businesses with matters related to the sale and acquisition of businesses and real estate, corporate structuring and governance, corporate reorganizations, borrowing and lending, leasing, and various other corporate proceedings.
Rupam is proficient in reviewing, negotiating and drafting a variety of contracts and other agreements including, asset and share purchase agreements, employment and independent contractor agreements, partnership and shareholders agreements, joint venture agreements, loan and security agreements, commercial and equipment leases, and bylaws.
Rupam works with clients at all stages of business, from newly incorporated entities to established companies, and has experience representing clients in a number of industries including, trucking, lumber, insurance, retail, hospitality, banking, education, and healthcare. In addition to working with private businesses, Rupam also regularly advises societies, charities and not-for-profits on governance and compliance matters.
Prior to receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria, Rupam attended the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and obtained her Bachelors of Business Administration, concentrating in the areas of human resource management and international business.
Having been born and raised in Surrey, B.C., Rupam is passionate about contributing to the community she grew up in. She volunteers her time with Access Pro Bono and also contributes to CLEBC by authoring the real estate chapter in the Advising British Columbia Businesses practice manual, and she also gives presentations at professional seminars and financial institutions with the goal of providing value-added knowledge to the business and legal communities.
Rupam can also provide legal services in Punjabi and Hindi.
Outside of the office, you can probably find Rupam learning a new dance style, travelling or looking for the best nachos in town.
